History of Ngwo Believers Association

Ngwo Believers Association USA started spontaneously when born again  Christians from Ngwo Community in Nigeria started coming to the USA and residing relatively close to each other in the state of Maryland. Prior to that, families’ only exchanged visits during periods of Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving holidays to spend time together. In the course of building this brotherly love and unity among the Ngwo believers in the USA, our women began to organize themselves to provide support to other Christian women in Ngwo who have some material and financial needs. Following these developments, Dr. Godwin Chinedu Ukwuani began to nurture the burden for the brethren to formally start Ngwo Believers Association so as to encourage and strengthen one another in the faith in this wilderness of America (Ofia America as he usually calls it). Often, he noted that some come to America as Christians and very soon lose their Christian faith because of lack of this kind of brotherly encouragement in the faith. On this premise, The Ngwo Believers Association USA, officially commenced and Bro Chinedu as the first leader of the association worked with other members of the leadership team to formally incorporate the organization in 2010 under the name NGWO BELIEVERS ASSOCIATION-USA INC.

While majority of the members of the organization currently reside in the state of Maryland, we currently have members living in other states in the USA. We also have members who are not from Ngwo, but lived in Ngwo and shared in the spiritual experience we had in the preaching of the gospel and support of the development of Ngwo town while in Nigeria. Hence, membership is open to born again believers who are not from Ngwo but share in that common spiritual bond we had in Ngwo and are interested in the continual spiritual welfare and development of our Ngwo community here in the United States and Nigeria.
